(Jesus said to him: ‘You have believed because you have seen me.Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.’ )
Therefore, on the one hand, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book, but on the other hand these, things have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through believing you might have life – in his name.
Lord, you have given me so much, I ask for one more thing – a grateful heart.
Thomas, one of the twelve, called Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples said to him: ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them: ‘Unless I see, in his hands, the place of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails and put my hand into his side I will not believe it. ‘
And after eight days his disciples were again inside and Thomas with them. Jesus came, even though the doors were locked and he stood among them and said: ‘ Peace be on you all.’
Then he said to Thomas: ‘Reach out your finger here, and see my hands, and reach out your hands and put it into my side and do not be an unbeliever but a believer.
Thomas replied: ‘My Lord, and my God. ‘
Jesus said to him: ‘You have believed because you have seen me. Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.’
Be thou a bright flame before me, Be thou a guiding star above me Be thou a smooth path below me Be thou a kindly shepherd behind me Today – tonight -forever Amen.
When it was evening of that day (the first day of the week) and the doors – where the disciples were – being closed because of fear of the Jewish authorities – Jesus came and stood among them and said: ‘Peace be on you all.’
And having said this he showed them his hands and side to them, so the disciples were joyful when they saw the Lord.
Then Jesus spoke to them again: ‘Peace be on you all. Just as the Father sent me, I send you too. ‘
And having said this he breathed and said to them: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of anyone they have been forgiven for them, if you hold on to anyone’s unforgiven (sins) they will be held unforgiven.’
O Love, O God who created me, in your love recreate me. O Love, who redeemed me, fill up in me whatever part of your love has fallen into neglect within me. O Love, O God, who first loved me, grant that with my whole heart, and with my whole soul, and with my whole strength, I may love you.
But Mary stood near the tomb outside, crying. As she cried, she bent over into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, where Jesus’s body had been lying one near the head and one near the feet.
And they said to her: ‘Lady, why are you crying?’ She said to them ‘They have taken my Lord, and I do not know where they have placed him.’
Having said these things she turned around and saw Jesus standing (there) and she did not know that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to her: ‘Lady, why are you crying? Whom do you seek?’
Supposing that he was the gardener, she said to him: ‘Lord, if you are the one who has carried him away , tell me where you have placed him, and I will take him away.’
Jesus said to her: ‘Mary.’
Turning, she said to him in Aramaic: ‘Rabbouni’ (which means ‘Teacher’).
Jesus said to her: ‘Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet gone up to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them: “I am going up to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God. “‘
Mary the Magdalene went, telling the disciples :’I have seen the Lord’, and that he had said these things to her.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve thee as thou deservest; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do thy will, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Restored for display 1st century family tomb – more ‘recent’ corpses would be laid out in the central section, until after a year the bones would be collected into the ossuaries, which would be stored in the niches.

So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved and said to them: ‘They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him.’ So Peter left, with the other disciple and they were going to the tomb. The two ran together. But the other disciple ran ahead of Peter, (being) faster and he came to the tomb first . Bending over, he saw the linens lying (there), but he did not go in. Then Simon came, following him and he went into the tomb, and he observed the linens lying and the facecloth, which had been on his head, not lying with the linens but apart, folded up in a place by itself.
Then the other disciple, who had come first, also went into the tomb and he saw and he believed. For they did not yet understand the scripture that it was necessary for him to rise from the dead. So the disciples went away again to their own homes.

After these things, Joseph from Arimathea (who was a disciple of Jesus, but only in secret, because of fear of the Jewish leaders) asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate let him. So he went and took away his body.
Nicodemus too, the one who earlier came to him by night, also went, carrying a mixture of myrrh and aloes – about a hundred pounds.
So they took Jesus’s body and wrapped it in linens with the spices, as is the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial.
There was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one ever had been placed.
So they placed Jesus there, because of the Jewish Day of Preparation, since it was nearby.
Thank you, dear Jesus, for all you have given me, for all you have taken away from me, for all you have left me.
Then the Jewish leaders, because it was the Day of Preparation, so that the bodies might not remain on the crosses on the Sabbath, for that Sabbath was a great day asked Pilate that they might break their legs and take them away.
So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and then the other crucified with him. But coming to Jesus, when they saw he was already dead they did not break his legs.
But one of the soldiers pierced his side with his spear and immediately blood and water came out.
And the one who has seen, has testified and his testimony is true, and he knows that he speaks the truth so that you also might believe.
For these things happened so that the Scripture might be fulfilled: ‘His bone will not be broken.’
And again another scripture says ‘They will look on the one whom they have pierced.’
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is discord, union; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy, For your mercy and for your truth’s sake. Amen
After this, Jesus, knowing that everything now had been completed, so that the scripture had been fulfilled, said: ‘I am thirsty.’
A jug full of cheap wine was standing there, so they put a sponge full of cheap wine on some hyssop and they lifted it up to his mouth.
When he had received the wine Jesus said: ‘It is completed’ and bowing his head, he gave up the spirit.
Psalm 69:21
They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
Thanks be to thee, my Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits thou hast given me, for all the pains and insults thou hast borne for me. O most merciful redeemer, friend and brother, may I know thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, and follow thee more nearly, day by day. Amen.
Beside the cross of Jesus, stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. Then Jesus, seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing by her, said to his mother: Lady, look, your son.’ Then he said to the disciple: ‘Look, your mother.’ And from that hour, the disciple took her into his own home.
God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.
Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his clothes and made four parts, for each soldier a part – and there was the tunic. The tunic was seamless, woven throughout, from the top. They said to one another ‘Let us not tear it, but let us draw lots for it to see whose it will be.’ So the scripture was fulfilled:
They divided among themselves my clothes And they cast lots for my clothing’.
Then the soldiers did these things.
