And the Passover of the Judeans was near,
and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
And he found in the Temple
those who sold oxen and sheep and pigeons,
and money changers,
sitting down.
And having made a whip,
from cords,
he threw them all out of the temple (precinct)
together with the sheep and oxen
and he poured out the small coins of the money changers
and he turned over the tables.
And to the sellers of the pigeons he said:
‘Take these things from here-
Stop making the house of my Father a house of merchants’

His disciples remembered
that is written:
Zeal for Your house will consume me. ¹
