Before the Passover festival ,
Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world
[and go] to the Father;
having loved his own who were in the world
he loved them to the last. 

During supper,
the devil already having put it into the heart of Judas son of Simon Iscariot to betray  him,
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands
and knowing that he had come from God,
and was going back to God, 

he rose from the supper,
put aside his garments,
taking a towel,
and wrapped it around himself.

Then he poured water into the basin
and began to wash his disciples’ feet
and  wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Lord, you have given me so much,
I ask for one more thing –
a grateful heart.
