who is the likeness of the invisible God,
the first(-born) of all creatures
because in him [all things] were created
-in the heavens and upon the earth
-things visible and invisible things
whether enthroned ones
or powers
or rulers
or authorities
[all things] through him
and in him
have been created.

And he himself is before [all things]
and all things hold together in him.

Teach us, good Lord,
to serve thee as thou deservest;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do thy will,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
