Coming to him,
a living stone
by people – rejected
but by God – chosen, honoured
and, you yourselves
as living stones
are being built up
a spiritual house
to be a holy priesthood,
to offer spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God,
through Jesus Christ.
O thou, who art the light of the minds that know thee,
the life of the souls that love thee,
and the strength of the wills that serve thee;
help us so to know thee that we may truly love thee;
so to love thee that we may fully serve thee,
whom to serve is perfect freedom.

To me this speaks of the essentail human being that Jesus was as one of us. He was nutured and then promted to show his srenghth by Mary at the wedding iin Cana, the chosen one by God. We too can find this strength as all ‘stones’ chosen, shaped and polished in the living form, together building up the church of God, just located at St James, and renewed by our restructured, modern and welcoming interior.
