The Lesson from the Fig Tree Mark 11:20-26

The Mount of Olives, Jerusalem

And as they passed by early in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots. And Peter remembered and said ‘Teacher, look – the fig tree which you cursed, withered.’

And Jesus replied to them:
‘Have faith in God.

Truly I say to you all: if someone says to this mountain
‘Be lifted up and be thrown into the sea
and they do not doubt in their heart,

but believe what they say is happening,
it will done for them.

Because of this, I say to you:
Whatever you pray and ask for
– believe that you have received –
and it will be done for you.

And whenever you stand praying,
forgive whatever you have against someone,
and your Father who is in heaven
will forgive your trespasses too.’

Grant, Lord,
that we may hold to you without parting,
worship you without wearying,
serve you without failing;
faithfully seek you,
happily find you,
and forever possess you,
the only God,blessed now and for ever.
Amen
