11I turned and I saw under the sun that
the race is not to the swift people,
nor the battle to the strong,
and also not to the wise people, bread
nor to the discerning people, riches.
Nor grace to the knowledgeable people,
because time and chance happen to all of them.
12Because, a person cannot even know their time.
Like fish that are taken in a bad net
and like birds that are taken by a trap,
like them, humans
are snared by a bad time when it falls on them suddenly.
Grant, Lord,
that we may hold to you without parting,
worship you without wearying,
serve you without failing;
faithfully seek you,
happily find you,
and forever possess you,
the only God,blessed now and for ever.
