And in this confidence I planned to come to you first,
so that you might have a second gift /grace.
to ‘visit you on our way’ to Macedonia
and to come again from Macedonia
and be sent on our way to Judea by you.
Therefore planning to do this,
was I indecisive then?
Or the things which I plan
do I plan them according to the flesh
so that with me there is
‘Yes, yes’ and ‘no, no’?
Be as God is faithful
our word to you is not
‘Yes and no’
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ,
who was proclaimed
among you,
by us
by me, Silvanus and Timothy
was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No’
but has been ‘Yes’ in him.
For all God’s promises
are Yes in him.
therefore also
through him is the Amen
to God,
for the glory
((that comes) through us.
But he who establishes us
with you in Christ
and anointed us
is God
and he is the one who seals
and gave us the guarantee of the Sprit
in our hearts
Teach us, good Lord,
to serve thee as thou deservest;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do thy will,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
