Yet we speak wisdom
in the presence of the mature-
that is wisdom
not of this age
nor of the rulers of this age
-who are perishing.
But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery
that has been hidden
which was decided beforehand by God
before the ages
for our glory
which none of the rulers
knew.
For if they had known it
they would have not crucified the Lord of glory,
but as it is written:
what eye has not seen
or ear has not heard
and has not occurred to a human heart
God has prepared for those who love him.
Teach us, good Lord,
to serve thee as thou deservest;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do thy will,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
