A song of the ascents.
1When Yahweh turned back Tsiyyon’s fortunes,
we became like people dreaming.
2Then our mouth would fill with laughter,
our tongue with resounding.
Then they would say among the nations,
‘Yahweh has shown greatness in acting with them.’
3Yahweh has shown greatness in acting with us;
we became people celebrating.
4Turn back our fortunes, Yahweh,
like canyons in the Negev.
5May people who sow with crying
reap with resounding.
6The person who goes, but goes crying,
carrying the seed bag
– As he comes, may he come with resounding,
carrying his sheaves.
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
