What profit is it,
my brothers/ sisters,
if someone says they have faith
but does not have works?
Can such
faith save them?
But if a brother or sister
lives with scarcely any clothes,
and lacking daily food
and one of you says to them:
‘Go in peace,
be warmed,
and be filled.’
but you all
do not give them:
what the body needs
– what profit is it?
In this way
such faith,
if it does not have works.
is dead
in itself.
Teach us, good Lord,
to serve thee as thou deservest;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to toil and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do thy will,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
