For also Christ suffered
once-for-all-time
for sins,
-the righteous man for the unrighteous many
so that he might bring you to God,
although
having been killed
in the flesh
he was made alive
in the spirit
-in which, also
he went and preached
to the spirits in prison…
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that thou art –
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
One response to “1 Peter 3 18-19”
It seems to me that the nuances of the Greek that could be translated two ways are really important. Translated with the word IN make all the difference to me to realise it was in the spirit that christ moved from this world into that of gods in heaven, or with all the other spirits both of our time after the cross and before that time. I hope my understanding is correct as in means Christ himself leaving his body but remaining in the spirit.
